A RESPONSE TO WALLACE'S DISHONEST ARTICLE ON VOTER MARCH FROM AN EMAIL SENT TO ME BY LISA VIGLIAROLO (page 3):

Hi Rose,

Read your rant on Conservavets. I knew you were the one who could call them on their BS. FYI, Mike Wallace and Dave Dillege were the two freepers who were at the 5/19 Voter March. Mike took notes and measured the cement squares at The Capitol to estimate how many of us were there. Interesting how he felt it necessary to point out that there were ONLY 2000 of us since there were ONLY 2 of them.

Dave stood holding an American flag, a Gadsden flag and a small Bush/Cheney campaign sign. Dave was the one who got into it with us. I'm pretty sure (will check) that Mike stated in his "report" that not one of us liberals carried an American flag which is an outright lie*. There were protesters at the head of the march who carried a large American flag.

The Gadsden flag has a picture of a snake and the statement "Don't Tread on Me". I went up to Dave and told him I agreed with the statement on this flag and that I did not want anyone treading on my right to vote and to have it counted! He totally ignored my comment and mumbled something about HIS 1st Amendment right to be there. This was totally irrelevant since I had not questioned his right to be there. It was his attempt to disregard the validity of my comment and change the subject. I came across their website quite by accident. I was signing a petition at www.democrats.com. I then started reading the comments of the others who signed. There I found a signer whose "name" was conservavets. The signer's comments were nasty and I thought it rather immature and obnoxious. I went to their website and was surprised to find that these were the two guys we had encountered on 5/19. What were the odds on my finding them like I did, purely by chance?

Lisa

*Note from Rose - what stands out about Lisa's comment is that she did not state unequivocally that Wallace lied, but instead said that she was "pretty sure" and that she would check to be certain. And, because Lisa is a liberal, she DID check, and discovered that she was mistaken (so was I, because I thought her comment was correct). She immediately emailed me again to clarify (how many right-wingers would do this?):

Dear Rose,

You can certainly post my e-mail. Just one correction, please. I went back and read Mike's article and he hadn't stated that we didn't carry the American flag; he stated that liberals never display the American flag with pride.

So it was worse than I thought. Instead of just lying, he actually denigrated our patriotism. Instead of saying "none of us liberals carried an American flag, which is an outright lie" I should have said "none of us liberals ever display the American flag with pride, which is denigrating to our true patriotism".

Another note from Rose - remember, Lisa first found the ConservaVets site because one of them signed a petition with nasty and insulting comments -- that is, they 'freeped' it. Now, I won't pretend that liberals would never do the same - in fact, I myself signed Bush's birthday card (and so should you!) - but what are the odds that ConservaVets will ever admit that they made nasty and insulting comments on one of our polls?
