On May 28th,
CNN's Crossfire had as their topic the stolen election. Under the
guise of presenting 'both sides', their guests were Bill Sammon
of the Moonie-controlled Washington Times, author of "At Any
Cost: How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Presidency" (which accuses
Gore of trying to steal the election and presents Bush as practically
heroic), and Jake Tapper, author of "Down and Dirty: The Plot
to Steal the Presidency" (which accuses both Gore and Bush
equally of trying to steal the election). Such sleazy tactics would
be expected from the more blatantly right-wing Faux News, but those
of us who have respected Bill Press in the past were jolted to see
him let Sammon natter on and on, with occasional anti-Gore comments
by Jake Tapper (who basically defines the term 'apologetic liberal').
Below is an email from Lisa Thomas

to Jake Tapper.

Subject: Monday night Crossfire's "discussion" on who tried to steal
the election
Mr. Tapper -
You and Bill Press were both disgraces to journalistic integrity
on Monday night, letting some cloaked and hooded far-right figure
hoodwink you into letting Bill Sammon control the show. You know
damned well Al Gore didn't try to steal the election. He tried to
HANG ON UNTIL EVERY VOTE WAS COUNTED BECAUSE - GUESS WHAT! - exit
polls do carry a lot of weight. We all know now that without a doubt,
FAR more people went into the booths thinking they voted for Mr.
Gore than Mr. Bush.
You know this. Bill Press knows this. You also know about the false
felons' list. If that had been connected by the most remote way
to Bill Clinton or Al Gore you would STILL be yelling about it.
Your chains have been jerked, and I am sure that I represent THOUSANDS
who despise you for your rollover.
George W. Bush stole this election, and it becomes clearer every
day. We have no mainstream media anymore. Bill Press loses the Spin
Room and has to eye his future. You apparently think you'll make
more book sales pandering to the right. Why didn't you have Vincent
Bugliosi on the show? Why didn't you MENTION the felons' list? Why
didn't you mention the growing number of protestors against the
Bush Machine's theft of Florida (and maybe more)? Why didn't you
MENTION the several hundred law professors who consider the Supreme
Court selection unconstitutional?
You sicken me, utterly SICKEN me, and I thank God that I never got
to the bookstore to buy your book. This issue is NOT going away.
Our anger is growing anyway, but to see such a sham as we all watched
on CNN last night is going to eventually explode into the truth.
