LETTER TO GEORGE W. BUSH
Joe Forgy (page 8)

09/24/01

Dear Mr. Bush:

An article, in this morning's newspaper, stated the government wants us to spend to help the failing economy.

Sorry, Mr. Bush, but we don't have any extra money to spend. With so many layoffs, we must help members of our families laid off. The high cost of prescription drugs, gasoline and insurance is taking the remainder of our money. You gave a big tax cut to the rich and gave us a token cut. That was not near enough to buy milk and shoes for the baby.

You told Dan Rather that you were going to spend all the budget surplus along with all the Social Security and Medicare trust funds. You have already gone back on your word and dipped into Social Security for $9 billion. Last week you used more of OUR trust funds to bail out the Airlines. Did we pay the CEO of American Airlines his $35 million salary out of OUR trust funds? I don't believe we can trust you with OUR money.

With the failing economy and when the trust funds are gone and the American people out of work who is going to pay for the long expensive war you intend to wage. Who will pay for that missile defense system, which will never work? Mr. Bush you will just have to ask your rich friends, cause we ain't got it.

In very simple terms, you are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. You should become acquainted with the economic principals of John Maynard Keynes. Bill Clinton did and we had eight great years of economic growth.

Sincerely,

Joe Forgy
