![]() LETTER TO BUSH Danielle Kichler, page 4 05/28/01 How could you?! According to this story I read online, you have given $43 million to the TALIBAN!!! Now, I realize that your human rights record as governor was spotty at best, considering your apparent eagerness to execute prisoners. And your first action as president--reinstating the gag rule--further confirmed my belief that you don't particularly care about human rights, but to give money to one of the most oppressive regimes ever is simply disgusting. I don't care that they're playing the "drugs are bad" song. I believe the Taliban will oppress anyone in the name of their "god," including poppy farmers. If they decide, oops, we need the cash opium provides, I'm certain they'll change their song pretty quickly. I believe that the Taliban are evil: pure, breathtaking evil. I believe that anyone who supports them in any way supports evil and is evil. The "god" that they and their followers worship is one of evil, not of good. They are monsters, pure and simple, and your gift has aligned you with the most monstrous evil ever to exist. Your behavior since January 20 has disgusted and appalled me. Your support of the Taliban is the most disgusting thing I have heard of in a long, long time. You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting this appalling violation of basic human rights. I remember during your father's term, he was called "an enemy of women." You are an even greater enemy of women than your father ever was. One more thing: please stop saying you were elected to do the will of the people. You were NOT elected, but SELECTED by the Supreme Court; Al Gore got at least half a million votes more than you. This does not include the voters who were illegally denied their right to vote by grossly inaccurate "felon" lists, roadblocks, harassment and intimidation. I wonder what Gore's margin of victory would have been had these people been allowed to vote. It also does not account for tampering with absentee ballots to give you an advantage. You were not elected, you have no mandate, and I hope your "presidency" goes down in history as a shameful era in this country's history. Sincerely, S. Danielle Kichler
